About Studio Osmosis

Founded by architects Sameer Balvally and Shilpa Jain Balvally in 2010, Studio Osmosis is a multidisciplinary design practice built on the concept of collaboration and creative synergy—true to the phenomenon of “osmosis.” With a philosophy that values fluidity, context, and research-driven experimentation, the studio has emerged as one of the leading names in India’s contemporary design landscape, delivering award-winning residential, commercial, retail, and healthcare projects across the country and abroad.

Shilpa and Sameer bring together almost two decades of collective experience and international exposure. Alumni of the Academy of Architecture, Mumbai, both pursued their Master’s degrees at Texas A&M University, with Shilpa specializing in Healthcare Design and Sameer focusing on sustainable architecture. Their shared passion for green building principles and evidence-based design forms the core of their practice.

Studio Osmosis is defined by its ability to blend Indian and global design ideologies, offering bespoke solutions tailored to each client’s personality, context, and purpose. Eschewing a signature style, the studio instead develops a unique narrative for every project, rooted in adaptability, functionality, and creativity. Their designs emphasize not just aesthetics but human experience—spaces that feel intuitive, dynamic, and alive.

With a growing portfolio spanning cities across India, Studio Osmosis continues to evolve through fresh perspectives, young talent, and a deep commitment to design that resonates—spaces that leave a mark, both functionally and emotionally.

Perched on the 15th floor of Windsor Grande, this 2,500 sq. ft. residence with 550 sq. ft. of breezy balconies redefines modern Indian living through the lens of memory, meaning, and mindful luxury. Born from an unusually personal, deeply philosophical client brief, the home orbits around the idea of ‘Shunya’—the circle of life—intertwining cultural roots with contemporary aspirations. Every corner is a confluence of values, milestones, and aesthetics, grounded in Indian ethos and elevated by bespoke design.

Design Highlights:
• Circular ‘energy loop’ design anchored by a Vastu-aligned Brahmasthan
• Artisanal entry screen inspired by Pichwai, with custom Nathdwara painting
• Handcrafted Thikri Mandir with intricate metal lattice shutters
• Dining mural depicting Dashavatar and curated Indian serigraphs
• Luxurious, sun-drenched palette in taupe, greige, and soft pastels
• Custom rugs, Kalam tables, Kolam-inspired inlays, and hand-knotted accents
• Modular open kitchen with rose gold profiles, Caesarstone counters, and smart tech
• Zen-like den-study with glass partitions and Japanese-inspired ceramic art
• Toddler room designed as an exploratory landscape with open-ended play zones
• Master suite with panoramic bathtub views, custom lighting, and walk-in wardrobe
• Bespoke furniture from Indian craft houses, seamlessly blending form and function

Summary
More than a home, The Modern Indian is an introspective journey—an architectural memoir of growth, rootedness, and inner peace. It holds space for ambition without opulence, for heritage without cliché. With every curated detail, handmade artifact, and thoughtful volume, it becomes a sanctuary that embraces the circle of life, the flow of karma, and the joy of coming home to oneself.
