Concept Note

Ankit & Ankura Patel - ANA DESIGNS

Set in Mumbai, this two-level headquarters is designed to strike a careful balance between functionality and aesthetics. The brief extended far beyond creating a conventional workplace; it focused on shaping an environment that reflects Ultratech’s brand philosophy through materiality, spatial experience, and design precision. Cement emerges as both material and muse, a medium through which ideas of strength, adaptability, innovation, and timelessness are articulated and woven consistently throughout the space.

At the reception, cement does not appear as a singular feature but as a seamless backdrop that merges quietly with the surrounding interiors. Its exposed texture lends gravity and permanence, while the brand’s signature yellow is introduced with restraint, allowing identity to surface subtly rather than overpower the space.

Executive cabins are crafted using polished wood and veneer, creating a refined and formal atmosphere. This is balanced by an American-style planning approach that encourages openness, comfort, and collaboration. Beyond these cabins, collaborative zones unfold as experiential pockets, each interpreting cement in distinct ways. The material appears as ceiling blocks, integrated table elements, and sculptural installations, highlighting its diverse properties—from modularity and resilience to sculptural expression.

The workspace ceiling becomes a defining architectural gesture. Conceived as a system of interconnected hanging elements, it symbolises cement’s role as a binding force that supports and connects. Custom-designed graphics across the office further reinforce this narrative, depicting abstract structural forms, arches, and bridges that speak to the brand’s expansive reach and infrastructural legacy.

Through layered design thinking, material exploration, and carefully choreographed interactions, the headquarters transforms into more than a functional office. It becomes an immersive spatial narrative—one where Ultratech’s cement is not merely displayed, but thoughtfully experienced in everyday movement, collaboration, and work. The design ultimately reinforces corporate identity while remaining adaptable, human-centric, and future-ready within a demanding contemporary professional setting in Mumbai.
