After spending his childhood moving across Tamil Nadu and later living abroad, the client sought a home that would anchor him to his roots while celebrating the landscapes and rhythms of his past. This desire became the guiding vision for a house that blends tradition, nature, and personal history.
Drawing inspiration from the five landscapes—Kurinji, Mullai, Neidhal, Paalai, and Marudham—celebrated in Sangam literature, the design translates these timeless terrains into spatial experiences that shape daily life. Common areas evoke Kurinji and Mullai, landscapes of celebration and calmness. Here, mountain energy meets the serenity of forested spaces, forming intimate zones for family gatherings, leisurely evenings, and shared stories.
The master bedroom channels Neidhal, reflecting the vast, gentle expanse of the sea. Its design fosters quiet reflection, offering a restorative retreat where light, view, and atmosphere roll in like gentle tides. Children’s spaces draw from Paalai, a sunlit, resilient landscape that fuels play, imagination, and growth. Every corner encourages curiosity while grounding young lives in a sense of rootedness.
Crowning the home, terraces and green lawns echo Marudham, fertile spaces where the family can nurture life, grow together, and enjoy the slow rhythms of everyday living.
