Set within a Coorg coffee estate, the glass cabin offers couples a private, immersive retreat. Linear spatial planning, expansive glass facades, and thoughtful landscaping frame serene pond views while ensuring seclusion. Natural materials, ambient lighting, and outdoor extensions like a hot tub deck create a poetic, intimate connection with the forest.
About the project
Tucked within the verdant expanse of a Coorg coffee estate, this intimate glass cabin offers a secluded retreat for couples seeking both privacy and connection with nature. Nestled between dense greenery and a tranquil pond, the design balances openness and seclusion, inviting occupants to immerse themselves fully in the landscape while enjoying quiet luxury.
The cabin’s architecture revolves around framing the natural surroundings. Oriented to maximize views of the pond from the bedroom, it maintains discretion from public paths and neighboring areas. A linear spatial hierarchy organizes the bedroom, bathroom, hot tub, and sit-out in a seamless flow, each space maintaining visual and spatial continuity with the outdoors. Glass facades dominate the structure, supported by custom steel framing that articulates its geometry while establishing a subtle identity within the forest. Privacy is carefully orchestrated through setbacks, layered landscaping, and curtains, creating a retreat that feels intimate without closing itself off.
Materiality is chosen to harmonize with the natural setting. Raw concrete, clay-toned finishes, and dark stone floors echo the earthy tones of the coffee estate, while the interplay of sunlight and shadow through the surrounding tree canopy animates the interior throughout the day.
At the heart of the design lies the idea of “curated solitude”—a space that allows couples to disconnect from the external world and reconnect with each other and the environment. The hot tub deck and curved sit-out extend living areas into the landscape, encouraging morning reflections, twilight conversations, and moments of pause under the forest canopy. Inside, tactile surfaces, soft furnishings, and ambient lighting enhance comfort while maintaining a minimal, contemplative aesthetic.
Every element, from orientation to material choice, has been considered to blend the cabin seamlessly into its surroundings. The result is not merely a dwelling but an immersive experience—a transparent cocoon where nature is always in view, privacy is preserved, and each moment is steeped in stillness, intimacy, and poetic presence.
