In one line

The park is a serene urban oasis at a busy intersection, designed to nurture community life, wellness, and ecological balance. With wide footpaths, a yoga forecourt, native planting, and thoughtfully layered zones, it fosters movement, reflection, and social interaction, transforming a bustling site into a restorative, green sanctuary.

About the project

The park is conceived as a vital breather for the surrounding community, a space where social life can hold, grow, and thrive. Strategically located at the intersection of two significant traffic arteries, the site presented both challenges and opportunities, demanding an innovative approach to lateral design thinking that balances movement, accessibility, and serenity. Its position amidst a busy urban fabric positions the park as an oasis of calm, offering respite from the hustle and bustle while serving as a hub for community interaction.

A wide footpath wraps around the park, establishing a clear and welcoming perimeter that encourages casual strolls, jogging, and cycling, while fostering connectivity with the surrounding streetscape. This continuous circulation loop acts as a transitional buffer between the park and the adjacent urban activity, ensuring safety, comfort, and accessibility. Within this framework, carefully defined zones are created to accommodate varied user needs, from active engagement to passive relaxation. A dedicated yoga forecourt provides an intimate yet open space for mindful practices, promoting wellness and mental rejuvenation amidst greenery.

Planting strategies prioritize both aesthetics and ecology, with native vegetation selected to enhance biodiversity, shade pathways, and soften hardscape edges. Trees, shrubs, and flowering plants are arranged to create visual layering, seasonal interest, and pockets of privacy, while also contributing to urban cooling and air quality. Seating areas, informal lawns, and shaded nooks are thoughtfully dispersed to allow spontaneous social encounters as well as quiet reflection.

The design also integrates subtle landscape interventions that respond to the site’s topography and context, including low retaining walls, raised planters, and gentle undulations that add sculptural interest and guide movement intuitively. Lighting and materials are chosen to be durable, low-maintenance, and human-scaled, ensuring that the park remains safe, welcoming, and inviting throughout the day.

Overall, the park is envisioned as more than a green space; it is a catalyst for community engagement, wellness, and ecological balance. By combining thoughtful circulation, multifunctional activity zones, and a calm landscape palette, it transforms a busy urban intersection into a lively yet peaceful haven—where city life and nature coexist harmoniously, offering a daily sanctuary for all.
