Project Name: Serene Oasis

Location: Manekpur, Navsari Gujarat

Perched gracefully on the bank of the Ambika River, this modern holiday home embodies a seamless dialogue between architecture and nature. From the outset, the client envisioned a retreat that would immerse occupants in the surrounding landscape, embracing the river, trees, and topography, while maintaining a minimalist aesthetic that emphasizes clarity, openness, and calm.

The design manifests as a series of interconnected glass-wrapped “bubbles,” allowing interiors and exteriors to flow into one another. This spatial fluidity creates the sensation of being enveloped by the natural environment, where light, wind, and greenery shape the experience of each room. The building’s form balances dual personalities: a restrained, smooth facade that reads as minimalist and serene, and an expressive side that opens fully to the landscape, offering panoramic views and a strong visual connection with the river and the surrounding terrain.

Strategically placed 10 meters above the water level, the home is engineered to withstand the strong winds characteristic of the headland location. The site plan was carefully sculpted around existing trees, preserving the ecological character while enhancing the feeling of privacy and seclusion. The ground floor houses three en-suite bedrooms and a lobby that gently guides visitors toward the main living spaces, creating a serene and intimate circulation experience.

The upper level is conceived as a fully glazed living platform, with balconies and a floating roof that fold to form open terraces and lounge areas. This configuration ensures maximum daylight, ventilation, and visual connection with the river and forested surroundings. Curved, chamfered, and climatically responsive surfaces define the home’s volumes, integrating structural, functional, and partition elements within its organic form.

By harmonizing structural ingenuity, environmental responsiveness, and an intimate connection to the site, the holiday home offers a sanctuary that is at once private, calm, and visually engaging. Every space is thoughtfully orchestrated to provide a restorative experience—whether gazing at the river from the terrace, moving through forest-like interiors, or feeling the gentle breeze flow through the glazed volumes. It is a contemporary haven where minimalism, natural beauty, and immersive living converge.
