Designing a home for a celebrity often brings to mind over-the-top chandeliers, gold-plated details, and rooms that feel more like film sets than living spaces. But when Arpit Ranka, the actor known for his powerful portrayal of Duryodhan in Mahabharat and his recent role in Kanappa alongside Akshay Kumar and Prabhas, envisioned his home, the brief was refreshingly human. He wanted a residence that reflected his commanding presence on screen but, more importantly, provided a sanctuary of warmth, comfort, and balance in real life.
That vision came to life in Casa Extra, a luxury residence in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Conceptualized and executed by Principal Designer Ar. Pallika Mankani Desai, the project showcases a new perspective on luxury interiors a dialogue of elegance and ease, boldness and balance.
A New Language of Celebrity Homes

In today’s design landscape, minimalism, Japandi aesthetics, and Wabi-sabi-inspired spaces dominate Pinterest boards and moodboards alike. They whisper serenity through pared-back simplicity. Casa Extra, however, refuses to whisper; it speaks, not in loud declarations of wealth or grandeur, but in a voice that blends intimacy with drama. This home feels confident, not cautious. It asserts itself without overpowering its inhabitants.
Modern Meets Classical

One of the most compelling aspects of Casa Extra is the way it balances opposites. Clean modern lines run across the architecture, but they are softened with arches, cornices, and mouldings—touches borrowed from classical design. These details are used sparingly, like punctuation in poetry, allowing the structure to feel timeless while still very much of the present moment. This interplay creates a home that’s elegant without being intimidating, rich but never overwhelming.
Materials That Tell a Story

The language of materials is at the heart of Casa Extra. A foundation of muted neutrals sets a calm backdrop, almost like the pause before a performance. Against this quiet base, warm woods, tactile fabrics, and strategic pops of color bring vitality and movement. Every finish is chosen to create resonance rather than noise.
Furniture follows the same principle. Pieces with modern silhouettes are softened with textures, layers, and detailing that prevent them from feeling too rigid. Surfaces are smooth in some areas and tactile in others, inviting touch and interaction. The overall effect is a home that feels curated but never staged—one where beauty is lived in, not preserved behind glass.
Expressive Yet Grounded

Every room in Casa Extra asserts its own identity. Some achieve this through tonal variations, others through bespoke millwork or handcrafted details. Yet they all remain part of the same story. This cohesion is what sets Casa Extra apart from so many celebrity homes in Mumbai, which often chase trends or compete for attention. Here, restraint is as important as expression.

In a city where skyline views and bold gestures often dominate luxury residences, Casa Extra takes a quieter path. Its true sophistication lies in clarity rather than abundance. It’s not the number of features that make this home memorable, but the thoughtful way each one is placed.
A Portrait of the Inhabitant
At its heart, Casa Extra is more than an architectural project. It’s a portrait of Arpit Ranka himself—commanding yet grounded, dramatic yet deeply personal. Just as he fills the screen with presence, his home fills the senses with balance. Yet, unlike the roles he plays, there is no need for spectacle here. This is a space that doesn’t whisper or shout but speaks with quiet authority, leaving a lasting impression.
For Ar. Pallika Mankani Desai, this project was not about designing a house for a celebrity but about crafting a story that translated a personality into space. The result is a residence that feels cinematic yet deeply livable, where every detail contributes to a sense of harmony.
