A bold spatial narrative that transforms a 1970s-inspired industrial office into an experience through time, Corporate Office for Kartar Agro by Studio JMC is a Top 6 finalist in the Architecture – Commercial category at the VOX Architecture Ideas 2024.
A Spatial Narrative Across Eras
More than a corporate office, the Kartar Agro headquarters in Punjab is a story etched in architecture — one that honors the past, lives in the present, and nods to the future. Designed by Studio JMC, the project takes cues from Robert Venturi’s “less is bore” philosophy, turning spatial design into a canvas of rich layers, textures, and time transitions.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a double-height showroom and an elegant entrance foyer—the prologue to a spatial journey that captures the ethos of Kartar Agro as a progressive and visionary brand.
Designing with the Spirit of Time
The guiding idea, “the spirit of time,” is embedded across the building’s materials, forms, and functions. The ground floor embraces a futuristic aesthetic — with bold parametric forms dictating both ceiling and flooring designs. Moving upward, the first and second floors tone down into restrained sophistication, while the top floor unveils a dramatic shift — a tribute to French opulence, filled with ornamentation and classical design elements.
Externally, the structure exhibits contemporary finesse: tapered facades, expansive glazing, and a layered material palette that gives the building a striking visual rhythm.
A Timeless Office for a Timeless Brand
This corporate office isn’t just a place to work — it’s an experiential journey. As employees and visitors navigate its floors, they are metaphorically taken through different eras, reminding them of Kartar Agro’s evolution and its ongoing commitment to innovation.
