Founded in 2006 by Sunil Gambani, Drishti Architects is a multidisciplinary design firm built on over 25 years of his experience as a Senior Associate with Architect Hafeez Contractor. Nahar Olivia Preschool, an extension of the renowned Nahar Education segment in Mumbai, reimagines early childhood environments by blurring the boundaries between learning, exploration, and play. This one-of-a-kind preschool design is conceptualized “from the inside out,” placing high-activity zones along the periphery to leverage natural light while ensuring constant stimulation through theme-based, interactive learning surfaces. Every spatial zone is crafted with a dedicated individual theme, featuring animated elements that reflect real-world experiences in child-friendly formats. The core idea was to instil cognitive curiosity while addressing the emotional and spatial needs of toddlers. Special attention is given to anthropometric scaling, ensuring children interact comfortably with custom-designed furniture, animated seating, and functionally whimsical washrooms. Despite being an enclosed block, the perception of openness is achieved through clever zoning and thoughtful utilization of space. The design fosters imagination, fearlessness, and joy, making the preschool not just a building, but an experience in itself.
