With over 14 years of experience, Farah blends artistic sensibility and functionality, creating immersive, emotionally resonant spaces that reflect individuality, purpose, and understated opulence across residential and commercial projects.
Nestled within the lush green expanse of Coimbatore, Idyll Home by Farah Agarwal of Chestnut Storeys is a serene 10,000-square-foot sanctuary where modern design sensibilities blend seamlessly with timeless Indian craftsmanship. Conceived for a cultured, well-travelled family of four, the residence embodies Chestnut Storeys’ philosophy of quiet opulence and thoughtful detail.
The home is designed to blur the lines between inside and out, embracing its natural surroundings through large floor-to-ceiling windows, open courtyards, and carefully placed garden sit-outs. Every space invites natural light and ventilation, establishing a continuous dialogue between architecture and landscape. The plan flows intuitively, balancing open, interactive areas with moments of privacy and pause, reflecting both modern functionality and emotional depth.
The material palette leans towards organic warmth — stone, wood, and textured surfaces anchor the interiors in authenticity. Muted neutrals create a calm backdrop against which bold gestures unfold. A striking orange staircase becomes a sculptural centerpiece, while a pineapple-patterned dining wallpaper adds whimsy and playfulness. The master bathroom, clad in red travertine, evokes indulgence and artistry, reflecting Farah Agarwal’s eye for detail and sensitivity to contrast.
Throughout the home, layers of design unfold like chapters in a story. The central courtyard, with its reflective pool, serves as a visual and emotional anchor — a space of stillness that mirrors the changing light and mood of the day. The foyer, anchored by curated art, sets the tone for the residence, while the living and dining spaces flow seamlessly into lush garden extensions.
Each corner is imbued with character through the use of bespoke furniture, local craftsmanship, and handpicked artefacts sourced from across India. Kota stone floors, hand-finished walls, and vibrant textiles come together in harmony, evoking a tactile and sensorial richness.
Idyll Home ultimately represents more than just a residence — it is a dialogue between contemporary design and cultural heritage, between modernity and nostalgia. It stands as a reflection of Chestnut Storeys’ vision: a design ethos rooted in individuality, authenticity, and timelessness, creating homes that are not only aesthetically refined but emotionally resonant, intimate, and deeply human.
