About the Project
The clubhouse was imagined as the defining landmark for a residential development of nearly 1,000 apartments—a space that would shape identity, cultivate vibrancy, and become the social heart of the community. For the client, this was more than an amenity; it was a signature project that needed to reflect quality, innovation, and long-term value. The brief called for a design that could balance its large scale with an intimate, human touch, accommodating fitness facilities, leisure zones, event spaces, retail, and everyday interactions with ease. The architecture was expected to stand out in form and presence, yet remain seamlessly rooted in the landscape, encouraging residents to step outdoors, connect, and make the clubhouse an extension of their daily life. Ultimately, the client sought a building residents could take pride in—one that would differentiate the development in the market while enriching community life for years to come.
The concept reimagines the clubhouse as a layered composition that evolved from an earlier compact scheme into a more robust and engaging form. When the site parameters expanded, a new rectangular block was introduced, and rather than fragmenting the massing, the design unified it through a reinterpreted sweeping roof. This roofline binds the volumes together, creating a dialogue between open and enclosed spaces and giving the centre its memorable architectural identity. The edges flow fluidly to frame a vibrant ground plane where retail and activity spaces open directly into the garden, blurring indoor–outdoor boundaries. Strategic step-backs carve shaded walkways, terraces, and pockets of pause, ensuring the building feels welcoming and accessible at multiple scales. The result is a structure that is both a landmark and a connector—animating the heart of the gated community.
The design process began with an in-depth study of the site’s movement patterns, spatial relationships, and the clubhouse’s role as a focal node. The geometry emerged as a yin-yang relationship between built and open spaces, shaping a form rooted in balance and flow. After organizing the functional program, the building skin and signature roof were developed to unify the elements into one cohesive whole. The sweeping roof transforms functional needs into an iconic presence, solidifying the clubhouse as the community’s defining centrepiece.
