About the Project

Soulroots Meditation Resort is envisioned as a sanctuary where healing transcends the physical and connects deeply with the spiritual. Set between the quiet landscapes of Dehradun and Rishikesh, the retreat is designed as a place where individuals can step away from the noise of everyday life and turn inward. Inspired by the client’s practice of womb-healing and her nurturing role as a guide, the architecture seeks not just to house meditation, chanting, and therapeutic rituals, but to elevate them into profound, transformative experiences. Every space is imagined as an emotional journey—one that awakens awe, reflection, and inner balance.

The guiding inspiration behind the design is the infinity loop, symbolizing continuity, renewal, and the eternal cycles of life. This form informs both the spatial planning and the deeper philosophy of the retreat. Water features in the courtyard and centered around the meditation spaces draw from yin–yang principles, reinforcing harmony and equilibrium. Fluid public spaces encourage community and shared energy, while private rooms offer cocoon-like solitude. These secluded sanctuaries are reached through cave-inspired corridors that slow one’s pace, encouraging introspection even in movement.

At the heart of the retreat lies the meditation hall—a sculptural shell designed to gather and amplify spiritual energy. Vertical fins diffuse gentle natural light into pearl-white interiors, creating an atmosphere of purity and serenity. The choice of deep green stone flooring adds a grounding quality, connecting visitors to the earth as they rise inwardly toward stillness. Sustainability anchors every architectural decision through passive cooling, daylighting, locally sourced materials, Kathkuni timber elements, rainwater harvesting, and regionally rooted building techniques. Each layer of the project reinforces a commitment to environmental responsibility and cultural authenticity.

Soulroots is conceived as a world beyond the ordinary—a retreat where architecture, landscape, and healing practices merge into an immersive experience. It stands as a place where one reconnects with silence, explores emotional depth, and rediscovers the infinite rhythm of life.
