About the Project

"Located in the heart of Meerut, Project Sera reimagines the dining experience as a performance where food, design, and atmosphere come together in effortless harmony. Envisioned as an intimate extension of the dining table, the 1,050 square foot restaurant draws deeply from the timeless rituals of Italian and French dining cultures—where meals are celebrations, conversations are unhurried, and the environment plays an equal role in shaping memory.

The spatial experience begins at the entrance, where a wood-fired oven becomes both a focal point and a symbolic gesture of warmth and welcome. From here, the layout follows the basic tenets of vastu, ensuring flow, balance, and a sense of ease as guests move further into the space. Seating unfolds organically, allowing for both intimate dining and flexible arrangements that accommodate larger gatherings without breaking the visual rhythm of the room. At its core lies a softly illuminated central bar, envisioned as the beating heart of the restaurant—an anchor for interaction, energy, and conviviality.

The material palette builds a sensory narrative that is subtle yet deeply atmospheric. Terracotta tiles recall the earthy warmth of wine cellars and sun-baked Mediterranean courtyards, grounding the space in a sense of familiarity and comfort. White mosaic surfaces evoke the crispness of freshly laid tablecloths, offering visual lightness and clarity. Stained cork panels introduce softness and tactility, shaping acoustics and intimacy while adding depth and warmth to the enveloping environment. Wooden detailing, soft brass lighting, and elegantly crafted marble tabletops create a refined yet relaxed ambience—neither formal nor casual, but a thoughtful balance of both.

Large linen-draped windows filter natural light throughout the day, transforming the mood from bright and inviting during daytime hours to glowing and atmospheric in the evening. This adaptability allows Sera to shift effortlessly—from a calm, welcoming eatery where guests linger over lunch to a lively social hub animated by conversation and shared plates.

Designed for a young, spirited audience, yet rooted in authentic culinary expression, Sera transforms dining into an expressive act—an experience that lingers long after the last course has been served."
