A Digital Reawakening of Lucknow’s Vidhan Sabha by De:cA+Pe Studio

At the heart of Lucknow’s historic Vidhan Sabha, a space of immense cultural and political significance, the Museum of Information and Identity reimagines an old entry foyer corridor, breathing new life into a once-confining space. Designed by De:cA+Pe Studio and led by architects Ar Anamika Gupta and Ar Gaurav Gupta, this project is a bold fusion of Indo-European architectural elements with cutting-edge digital technology.

The transformation begins with the introduction of digital projector mapping on the ceiling, which opens up the space visually and emotionally, creating an atmosphere of serenity amid the fast-paced environment of governance. These projections are not merely decorative; they honor the intricate Indo-European motifs, seamlessly blending the historical with the contemporary.

As visitors move through the corridor, they are greeted by columns adorned with interactive digital projections. These portals provide an immersive experience, offering rich information about the biographies of local MLAs and the region’s cultural heritage. This dynamic integration of technology turns the once-static corridor into an engaging, educational space that brings history to life in an entirely new way.

The project culminates in the creation of an art gallery museum, where materials and art forms are thoughtfully curated to reflect both sustainability and functionality. By preserving the original architectural essence of the Vidhan Sabha while introducing modern design elements, the project serves as a cultural and architectural fusion—honoring tradition while embracing innovation.
