Ekyana Retreat by JMS Design Studio: Where Healing Architecture Meets Conscious Luxury

A nature-rooted retreat blending biophilia and classical luxury, EKYANA RETREAT BY PATANJALI WELLNESS by JMS DESIGN STUDIO is a Top 6 finalist in the Interior Design – Hospitality category at VOX Architecture Ideas 2024.

Project Name: EKYANA RETREAT BY PATANJALI WELLNESS

Location: AMRAVATI ENCLAVE, PANCHKULA

Year: 2024

Area: 40000 sq. ft.

Set against the serene backdrop of the Shivalik Hills and nestled near a riverbank, Ekyana Retreat was envisioned as a space where architecture becomes a medium for healing. Rooted in the principles of Healing Architecture, the project integrates design, psychology, and ancient wellness wisdom to support physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

The design philosophy centers on balance—drawing from the five elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—alongside traditions of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy. Every architectural gesture and interior detail is intended to realign the human experience with nature and nurture.

The retreat’s layout is organized to evoke a strong biophilic connection. Natural light, organic materials like wood and stone, and indoor gardens all play a role in shaping a sensory-rich environment. Courtyards, communal dining areas, and quiet lounges invite users to connect—both with themselves and others—while water features and natural textures provide moments of stillness and serenity.

A soft, neutral color palette paired with classical symmetry and gentle curves further enhances the calming aura of the interiors. While classical architecture provides a structure of elegance and proportion, biophilic design breathes life into the spaces—bringing the outdoors in and anchoring the interiors to their lush, natural surroundings.

Engineering met intuition in the project’s response to site challenges. High wind pressures led to the development of specially reinforced window glazing systems, designed through months of wind-load analysis. The building’s base was constructed with robust RR Masonry, ensuring harmony with the terrain and structural resilience.

Every detail of Ekyana Retreat—from the treatment rooms to meditation halls—is designed to be immersive, versatile, and deeply personal. It’s not just a space; it’s an experience of healing, nature, and conscious luxury.
