A 4600 sq. ft. home in Nanded centered around a beautiful double-height courtyard and built with a palette of exposed concrete, terracotta bricks, and natural light—Krishna-Kunj by Saga Architects is a finalist in the Interior Design – Residential Villa & Bungalow category at the VOX Architecture Ideas 2024 competition.
Area: 4600 sq. ft.
This thoughtfully designed bungalow is an ode to simplicity. Tailored to the client’s minimalistic needs, the design avoids excess and instead embraces clean lines, earthy textures, and open volumes. At the heart of the home is the double-height courtyard, a striking space that brings light and air into every corner of the living, dining, and recreational areas. It’s where indoor living blends seamlessly with the outdoors.
The material choices echo the natural aesthetic—terracotta bricks regulate temperature, exposed concrete brings a raw elegance, and terracotta jalli screens add charm while casting dramatic shadows that shift with the sun. This thoughtful use of materials not only keeps the home cool in the southern heat but also adds depth and detail to the design.
The overall layout is simple yet layered. A green balcony overlooking the courtyard connects to a front-facing terrace, creating an interesting vertical dialogue within the house. Every space flows effortlessly, making the home feel calm, cohesive, and connected to nature.
Krishna-Kunj stands out not with extravagance, but with intention—a home where design, climate, and lifestyle come together beautifully.
