Oryza in Goa: A Paddy Field-Inspired Stay You’ll Never Want to Leave

About the Project

Where Paddy Fields Meet Architecture: Welcome to Oryza

In a coastal state filled with postcard-perfect beaches and Portuguese villas, Oryza offers something refreshingly different—a thoughtful homage to the beauty of Goa’s paddy fields, reimagined as a boutique holiday experience. Designed by Studio TreeSpace, this collection of villas isn't just about luxury—it's about landscape, legacy, and living lightly within nature.

The 1950 sq ft villas feature clean, linear geometries and layered design elements drawn directly from the rice fields they overlook. Large metal louvers echo the stepped pattern of paddy terraces, while arched louvered structures mimic the elegant curve of rice plants swaying in the breeze. Every gesture in the design is a nod to nature, distilled through the lens of contemporary architecture.

What Makes Oryza Different?

It’s the kind of space that asks you to slow down. Oryza’s layout is all about flow—between indoors and outdoors, form and function, privacy and community.

  • The ground floor is open-plan, featuring a sunken lounge, kitchen, and dining area—all connected to the pool and garden, ensuring that nature is never more than a step away.

  • A bedroom and ensuite bath on this level serve both comfort and accessibility.

  • The first floor hosts two more bedrooms, connected by a breezy lobby and balcony, perfect for early morning chai or golden hour views.

  • Climb up a red spiral staircase and you’ll reach the attic—a cozy, tucked-away spot with a terrace and utility area. Think writing nook, stargazing corner, or even a quiet yoga space.

And then there’s the roof. Not just any roof, but a double-gabled structure that stretches like a bird in flight—functional for Goa’s tropical climate, and metaphorical in spirit.

The Oryza Effect: A Stay That Tells a Story

What makes Oryza stand out isn’t just the design details—it’s how the entire space feels. From the grey mineral shingle roof to the filtered sunlight passing through louvers, every element works together to whisper, breathe, you’re in Goa now.

This isn’t just a stay. It’s a story you inhabit. A landscape you live inside. A place where architecture becomes a quiet partner in your vacation.
