About the Project
House Koya is a quiet retreat from the city’s rush, rooted in the calming principles of Japandi design. Completed on April 9th, the apartment is a carefully curated canvas of soft beige tones, grey terrazzo floors, natural wood, and cane finishes—all coming together to evoke a peaceful, uncluttered lifestyle.
Tranquility in Every Detail
The entrance greets you with softly textured walls that immediately set the tone: gentle, grounded, and tactile. Terrazzo floors with embedded natural stones add a graceful richness underfoot, while warm wooden beams balance the space visually and emotionally.
At the heart of the home lies a statement arched feature wall, built with gravel stone—echoing the serenity of Japanese zen gardens. This subtle gesture draws the eye without overpowering the space, serving as a symbolic embrace of nature indoors.
Clean Forms and Calming Colors
The living and dining areas are defined by clean-lined wooden furniture, minimal ornamentation, and plenty of negative space—hallmarks of Japandi style. The sliding door kitchen continues this language with soft brown shutters, neat mouldings, and a warm, practical flow.
Each room has a distinct purpose yet feels like a continuation of the overall visual story. In the kid’s room, a custom bunk bed in light wood and pink tones adds a hint of playfulness without disrupting the home’s calm palette. Meanwhile, the master bedroom is purposefully restrained—with lime-plastered walls, cane accents, and ambient lighting that encourages rest and mindfulness.
Sculptural Bathrooms and Subtle Motion
One of the most poetic elements of House Koya is its attention to detail. Gentle curves in the bathroom, wavy skirting along the walls, and organic shapes subtly mimic forms found in nature. These visual cues introduce a soft sense of rhythm and continuity—an invitation to slow down and breathe.
A Mindful Living Experience
More than just a beautifully designed apartment, House Koya is a mood. It’s about letting go of excess, and instead choosing materials, forms, and tones that offer long-lasting comfort and aesthetic pleasure. With every element carefully chosen and crafted, this home feels like a living embodiment of wabi-sabi—an embrace of imperfection, tranquility, and intentionality.
