Buildtrek

Buildtrek is an emerging architectural and design studio dedicated to partnering with clients in crafting spaces that reflect their dreams and aspirations. True to its name, the firm embarks on a journey with each clientβ€”demystifying the complex process of innovation, design, and construction with a focus on personalization and clarity. Every project is approached as a unique opportunity to deliver bespoke, meaningful spaces that resonate on a deeper level.

Founded by Kanav Arora, the studio is guided by the belief that a strong design concept lies at the heart of impactful architecture and interiors. For Buildtrek, concept-driven design ensures cohesion, emotion, and intentβ€”avoiding the pitfalls of uninspired or disconnected outcomes. Kanav emphasizes that great design should not only meet the functional needs of its users but also respond to its social and environmental context, weaving narratives that are both thoughtful and enduring.

With a collaborative spirit, Buildtrek continues to redefine the architectural landscapeβ€”one compelling, concept-led space at a time.

A Studio that Feels Like a Cave, but Thinks Like a Community

The Experience Space by Buildtrek is the GOLD Winner project in the Architecture – Commercial category at the VOX Architecture Ideas 2024 competitionβ€”a concept-led creative studio that merges play, craft, and cultural exchange within an organic, cave-inspired design.

Project Name: The Experience Space

Location: Mohali, Punjab

Year: 2023

Area: 2000 sq ft

Designed to spark imagination, collaboration, and cultural exchange, The Experience Space by Buildtrek is more than just a creative studio—it’s a living, breathing environment where art, architecture, and community coalesce. Located in a setting ripe for interaction and inspiration, this project reimagines the traditional studio model by merging play, craft, and co-working into one seamless experience.

From the outset, the brief was clear: create a dynamic, inclusive studio that engages a wide audience—children, artists, families, and creators alike. But rather than simply dividing the space into functional zones, Buildtrek, led by architect Kanav Arora, went deeper. Drawing from the primal spirit of Paleolithic cave art, the design uses forms, textures, and natural materials to invoke a sense of discovery.

Design that Starts with a Story

The design journey began with a simple yet powerful theme: “Art Inside the Cave.” This idea influenced everything—from the organic curves of the exterior arches to the sculptural ceiling reliefs that feel almost unearthed rather than constructed.

A site-responsive analysis led to the integration of earthy tones, abstract forms, and natural lighting through large glazed openings. The façade’s abstract arches serve as a visual metaphor—a portal into creativity—while also welcoming a wide range of users into an environment that feels at once ancient and modern.

Spaces Within That Spark Creativity

The studio is divided into three primary zones:

  • The Kids Zone – Bright, interactive, and open-ended, this area is designed to encourage exploration through art and play.

  • The Studio Space – Flexible and expressive, this textured space features global design references and open layouts for co-creation and workshops.

  • The Pottery Area – A hands-on zone for tactile engagement, where materials like clay and earth reconnect visitors to primitive artistic instincts.

These spaces are visually and physically interconnected through circular flooring patterns, arched thresholds, and warm timber accents. Sculptural bamboo chandeliers, timber log ledges, and inverted conical volumes add richness to the interiors, reinforcing the space’s immersive, organic quality.

A Cultural Ecosystem, Not Just a Studio

What makes The Experience Space truly unique is its function as a creative ecosystem. It’s not just where people make things—it’s where ideas are exchanged, connections are formed, and a community identity is nurtured. From pottery sessions and kids’ art camps to collaborative co-working and cultural events, the space adapts and responds to those who use it.

Buildtrek’s approach to architecture is evident in every detail—carefully layered textures, thoughtful zoning, and a commitment to spatial storytelling. The firm’s focus on concept-led design, user needs, and broader environmental consciousness is what makes The Experience Space stand out.
