Forest-Themed Restaurant Design in Jaipur: MEZO

MEZO in Radisson Blu by Design Frame is the GOLD winning project in the Interior Design – Restaurant & Lounge Bar category at the VOX Architecture Ideas 2024 competition—transforming hospitality design into a theatrical forest-inspired experience.

Project Name: MEZO IN RADISSON BLU

Location: JAIPUR, RAJASTHAN

Year: 2024

Area: 6200 sq ft

Tucked inside the Radisson Blu Jaipur, MEZO by Design Frame is not just a lounge—it’s an immersive retreat where nature plays muse and every corner hums with narrative flair. Designed by Shobhit Paliwal and his team, this one-of-a-kind restaurant draws from forest folklore to deliver a space that is equal parts fantasy and function.

From the outset, the brief challenged convention: create a forest-themed lounge that didn’t feel kitsch, but elegant and experiential. The solution lay in embracing quirks. Think: mosaic paths that meander like streams, life-size animal sculptures that peek through greenery, and a bar that glows like a cocoon under a woodland canopy. Every element in MEZO is rooted in storytelling—where butterflies hang midair and chandeliers crafted from natural materials shimmer like filtered sunlight.

Key to the spatial planning was the integration of water features and vegetation, lending an authentic and calming vibe to the lounge. Natural wooden roots, stems, and twigs were used with finesse—each one treated and installed to preserve its form and texture. The pièce de résistance? A stage set under “firefly” lights that elevate the ambience during live performances, enveloping guests in a sensory escape.

Design Frame, the Jaipur-based studio behind this ambitious project, is celebrated for its ability to turn abstract themes into tangible design language. With a growing portfolio of hospitality, residential, and bespoke commercial spaces, their attention to detail and client-first philosophy continues to shape some of the country’s most distinct interiors.

In MEZO, every visual cue—from earthy tones to sculptural details—tells a story. And the result? A lounge that doesn’t just host guests; it transports them.
