Wockhardt Hospitals in Rajkot envisioned a state-of-the-art Oncology Facility dedicated to Linear Accelerator (LINAC) Radiation Treatment within their existing hospital premises. Designed from the ground up, the project integrates clinical precision with patient-centric care, ensuring compliance with stringent AERB radiation-shielding norms while fostering an environment of calm and dignity.

The planning was driven by seamless functionality and spatial clarity. The facility includes a Linear Accelerator Radiation Chamber, Control Console Room, Shield Corridor, and auxiliary zones, all strategically organized to optimize workflow, safety, and accessibility. Circulation paths were meticulously designed to ensure smooth coordination between medical staff and patients while maintaining privacy and operational efficiency.

Structurally, the facility incorporates specialized radiation shielding—comprising a 900-mm RCC base raft, RCC walls of 1400 mm and 2500 mm thickness, and an RCC slab in the radiation chamber—ensuring maximum protection and durability. Advanced clinical MEP systems are integrated to support technical precision, energy optimization, and uninterrupted operations.

The interior design follows a minimal and functional approach, focusing on comfort, hygiene, and visual harmony. A neutral color palette forms the backdrop for calmness, complemented by sustainable materials such as stone veneers and reclaimed wood, which add texture and warmth. Hygiene-certified materials, including moisture-resistant modular ceilings and anti-fungal, anti-bacterial paints, ensure compliance with healthcare safety standards and longevity of finishes.

Lighting design plays a central role, balancing energy efficiency with emotional well-being. Controlled ambient lighting creates a soothing atmosphere, while ergonomic spatial planning enhances user comfort and operational ease.

Art becomes an essential therapeutic element within the facility. Bespoke installations inspired by human forms and nature introduce a sense of hope and positivity. Abstract murals depicting healthy red blood cells enliven the waiting area, symbolizing vitality and life. At the corridor ends, two canvas artworks titled “Echoes of Peace”—rendered in cool blue tones—evoke serenity and mindfulness, framing the clinical setting with tranquility.

The Wockhardt Oncology Facility stands as a model of thoughtful healthcare design—one that harmonizes technological advancement, environmental sensitivity, and the healing power of art. It transforms a highly technical medical program into an environment that supports both physical recovery and emotional resilience, reflecting a deep commitment to human-centered healing.
