Tucked away in Pune, this 3BHK apartment project is a compelling case study in how modest scale can be elevated into an expressive, artful home. Designed by ONE Habitat Studio—an award-winning design practice led by Yash Shah and Anuja Sawarkar—the project began with a blank slate: a raw flat devoid of character, and a family with a clear vision—simplicity, flow, and comfort.
Rejecting standard builder finishes, the design team redefined the entire layout through strategic civil modifications that prioritized natural light, openness, and functionality. The micro-topped flooring blurs visual boundaries and adds to the perception of a larger footprint, while pastel shades and earthy textures create a grounded yet refreshing ambiance.
Every corner of Experiment 101 carries a narrative. The living and dining spaces are warm and welcoming, dressed in stucco-finished walls, custom-made furniture, and anchored by a unique conical quartz dining table. The kitchen—a serene contrast in muted blues—uses fluted glass and thoughtful lighting to bring elegance to utility.
The bedrooms are equally expressive. A guest room channels quiet charm, the master suite weaves in tropical influences, while the children’s room offers vibrant hues and open flexibility. Throughout, bespoke elements and hand-painted details make the space deeply personal.
ONE Habitat Studio brings its ethos to life in this project—creating homes where nature, humans, and design exist in balance. Known for its narrative-led, user-centric design process, the studio continues to make waves in contemporary Indian architecture with work that is minimal yet emotive.
