This 4,700 Sq. Ft. Mumbai Home Wrapped in Grey Marble Is a Masterclass in Understated Luxury

Located in the heart of Mumbai, this expansive 4BHK apartment with a 1,300 sq. ft. deck boasts a panoramic city view. The brief was precise—minimal beige and wood, no glossy or gold finishes, complete home automation, and multifunctional design. With this in mind, Sakshi Gehani conceived the design philosophy of Understated Opulence, choosing to base the home on a grey marble canvas and transforming it into an experience that feels tactile, calm, and timeless.

Design Language: Grey, But Never Gloomy

Grey became the base tone for every space—a bold yet balanced choice. From the marble flooring that anchors the home to the custom arches that soften transitions, every detail was meticulously planned. The welcoming Reflecting Sand Wall acts as a backdrop layered with mirror panels and sand-textured finishes that visually expand the space and bathe it in natural light.

Spaces that Flow with Purpose

The home offers both grandeur and intimacy through zones designed for hosting and unwinding. Two main living areas—the serene Living Room and the more social Drawing Room—are punctuated by lush plants, plush textures, sage green and teal hues, and sculptural custom furniture. A standout piece is the Bubble Couch in the living area—inviting and voluminous, ideal for curling up with a book or coffee, framed by the natural cityscape.

The Drawing Room features a multi-functional ‘C’ couch that transforms into a full-size bed, as well as a custom circular bar with thoughtful details and an interactive round table seating. Moving through the house is like walking through art—the transition zones are layered with arches, uplighters, greenery, and memory walls that serve both aesthetic and emotional value.

Bespoke Dining & Hidden Theatre

Three soft sage green arches lead into a striking dining area. A custom walnut wood table surrounded by green upholstered chairs is flanked by panoramic views and a ceiling that adds just the right dramatic flair. Behind the mirrored Reflecting Sand Wall lies a home theatre—acoustically cozy, carpeted, recliner-equipped, and with a cleverly integrated bed and attached washroom.

Bedrooms with Soul

Each bedroom has been designed as a reflection of its inhabitant. Walk-in wardrobes, personal touches, and handpicked materials make each room unique, yet they all resonate with the overall tone of calm, luxurious restraint. Fluted textures, soft palettes, and intelligent lighting choices abound.
