About the Project
Muted Tones, a 2BHK residence in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, translates contemporary sensibilities through a distinctly Indian material vocabulary. Designed for a young family, the home unfolds as a sequence of gentle experiences—spaces shaped by warmth, restraint, and purposeful harmony. Every corner is considered, every surface intentional, resulting in an environment that feels both grounded and expressive.
The entrance and living room establish the overarching narrative with teak-clad surfaces, curated greenery, and a sense of quiet composure. Botanical decals soften the vertical planes, while a custom egg-shaped tiled carpet in bottle green and off-white anchors the seating area with subtle drama. The teak veneer entertainment wall, supported by a matte-black MS framework, becomes an elegant sculptural element—light in form yet strong in character—setting the tone for the home’s refined material language.
The dining area continues this dialogue of clarity and richness. A terrazzo tabletop introduces soft grain and texture, while the multifunctional crockery unit—crafted in teak, birch ply, and fluted glass—effortlessly blends storage, display, and warmth. This space becomes the family’s daily pause, where utility and aesthetics merge seamlessly.
In the kitchen, soft green cabinetry pairs beautifully with a square-shaped textured kit-kat tile backsplash, elevating everyday rituals with tactile comfort and lightness. The palette stays muted yet fresh, echoing the home’s overarching theme of subtle contrast.
The children’s room shifts to a playful register, defined by cobalt accents, chevron flooring, and built-in monkey bars—a thoughtful blend of imagination and functionality. Soft curves, layered storage, and interactive elements nurture creativity without overwhelming the space.
The master suite returns to quiet elegance, enveloped in warm teak wood and veneer furniture. A stitched fabric headboard introduces softness, while delicate moulding and gold-toned motifs evoke cultural nuance with a contemporary lens. This space becomes a private retreat—minimal yet expressive, calming yet visually enriched.
Across the home, handcrafted details, natural textures, and a muted palette create a deeply personal and immersive spatial experience. Muted Tones is not just a residence; it is a carefully curated reflection of its inhabitants—balanced, grounded, and timeless in its quiet sophistication.
