About the Project

The project focused on redesigning the terrace lounge of an existing, operational restaurant, aiming to refresh the space and elevate its overall ambiance while maintaining the integrity of the core structure. The goal was to create a more inviting, functional, and visually engaging environment for patrons without disrupting ongoing operations.

A key intervention involved addressing the existing polycarbonate roof, which had worn over time. To improve both aesthetics and comfort, a double-layered roof system was introduced. The top layer features metal sheeting for durability and weather resistance, while the underside incorporates wood-look panels, softening the space and adding warmth. This double-layered approach not only reduced heat accumulation but also became a striking design element, contributing to the overall character of the terrace.

At the entrance, a bold curved wall was introduced, serving as both a sculptural focal point and a subtle wayfinding element. It guides guests seamlessly toward either indoor or outdoor seating areas while creating a sense of arrival. The curvature of this wall establishes a visual rhythm that resonates with the gentle curves of the new ceiling, reinforcing a cohesive design language throughout the lounge.

As patrons move into the semi-covered space, they encounter a calming interplay of materials and textures. The curved wood ceiling above, rust-toned flooring below, and carefully placed greenery create a tranquil, layered environment. The primary color palette features shades of blue, strategically chosen to contrast with the warmer tones of wood and flooring, adding depth, vibrancy, and visual interest without overpowering the serene ambiance.

Lush planters and green accents are carefully integrated throughout, providing natural elements that enhance the sensory experience while softening the architectural lines. Lighting design complements the material palette, emphasizing the curves, textures, and spatial hierarchy of the lounge. Together, these interventions transform the terrace into an inviting, contemporary space where guests can relax, socialize, and enjoy the surrounding environment.

The redesign successfully balances aesthetics, functionality, and comfort, creating a terrace lounge that feels fresh, cohesive, and engaging. By blending material warmth, bold architectural gestures, and thoughtful color and lighting strategies, the project elevates the dining experience while maintaining harmony with the existing restaurant structure.
