About the Project
The clients envisioned a modern farmhouse that would serve as a personal retreat for intimate gatherings while retaining the warmth and familiarity of a lived-in home. Their brief emphasized a free-flowing living and dining area that seamlessly opens onto a swimming pool and an expansive lawn, capable of hosting 50–80 guests. A critical requirement was flexible zoning — the ability to isolate the private bedroom wing so that the remaining areas could function independently as a rentable venue for daytime events. The architectural intent was to create a contemporary home that remains deeply connected to nature, blending functionality with a strong spatial identity.
The home is conceived as a meditation on balance, where form and function coexist in quiet harmony. Planning responds thoughtfully to the site’s geometry, which combines a square expanse with a narrow linear stretch, resulting in an intuitive spatial flow. Social areas, including the living, dining, and entertainment spaces, open generously to the outdoors, creating seamless indoor–outdoor connections. Private bedrooms are tucked into green pockets, providing tranquility and seclusion while maintaining visual and spatial connectivity to the landscape.
A striking origami-inspired roof defines the home’s architectural language, folding and lifting to match the emotional rhythm of each space. Its sculptural form reflects both the dynamic and serene qualities of the farmhouse, offering protection and rhythm while visually connecting the different volumes. Materiality reinforces the sense of balance, with VOX ceiling panels allowing for precise, sculptural detailing that complements a warm, natural palette of marble, wood, and stone. These materials ground the interiors in understated luxury, enhancing tactile experience and visual depth.
The design marries aesthetics with practicality, ensuring that spaces are adaptable for family life as well as hosting guests. Outdoor terraces, the pool deck, and landscaped lawns extend the living areas, providing flexibility for social events while maintaining intimacy. Every element — from structural geometry to material selection and ceiling articulation — works in concert to create a farmhouse that is contemporary, welcoming, and inherently connected to its natural surroundings. The result is a retreat that balances private life with social interaction, architecture with landscape, and elegance with warmth, offering a harmonious and memorable experience for its inhabitants.
