Drawing from the region’s industrial and brick-making heritage, the Canteen and Office Block reinterprets these traditions into a contemporary post-industrial aesthetic. Organized around landscaped courtyards and preserved trees, it combines functional zoning, natural light, and tactile materials. The design balances modernity and cultural identity, creating a warm, inspiring, and contextually rooted workplace.

About the Project

The design draws inspiration from the region’s rich brick-making and industrial heritage, translating these traditions into a contemporary post-industrial aesthetic. Exposed brickwork, clean geometric lines, and raw natural materials such as granite and Kota stone define the architectural language, creating a built environment that is both modern and deeply rooted in local context. The Canteen and Office Block is thoughtfully organized around three landscaped courtyards, which introduce daylight, ventilation, and visual relief into the large volumes. Each courtyard is treated with distinct finishes — ranging from custom cement tile patterns to intricate brick detailing — creating unique spatial identities that guide circulation and enrich the user experience.

A key priority of the design was the preservation of existing trees on the site. The architecture carefully integrates around the natural landscape, respecting and enhancing the inherent character of the site. This approach ensures that the built environment and nature coexist harmoniously, providing shaded outdoor spaces and visual connections that promote comfort and well-being.

Spread across three floors, the building accommodates a variety of programmatic requirements. It houses staff and VIP dining areas, a kitchen and laundry, office spaces, an auditorium, and a VIP guest house, all arranged through seamless zoning that encourages intuitive movement and operational efficiency. The linear brick façade incorporates jaali screens, a feature wall, and a glass-roofed entrance, creating a welcoming and visually engaging arrival sequence that balances warmth with grandeur.

The project brief envisioned a design that was simultaneously grand and elegant — a building that could express modernity while remaining firmly connected to cultural identity. This dual aspiration informed every decision, from material selection to spatial planning and detailing. The resulting architecture achieves a carefully measured equilibrium, blending functional requirements with a strong contextual narrative.

Ultimately, the Canteen and Office Block establishes a distinctive architectural identity that bridges past and present. It celebrates industrial craftsmanship, regional materiality, and thoughtful spatial organization while providing a functional, comfortable, and inspiring environment for staff, visitors, and VIP guests alike. The project demonstrates how contemporary design can honor heritage, respond to context, and deliver lasting relevance and meaning.
