A Peach-Fuzz-Hued Patio & Bar That Fuses Japanese Wabi-Sabi with Urban Glam

Kiona – Patio & Bar by Spaces + Partners Architects is the SILVER winning project in the Interior Design – Restaurant & Lounge Bar category at the VOX Architecture Ideas 2024 competition — a vibrant, two-level destination in Delhi-NCR where imperfect beauty meets modern-day indulgence.

Project Name: Kiona - Patio & Bar

Location: Hauz Khas, New Delhi

Year: 2023

Area: 4000 sq ft

Perched across an expansive dual-level layout with both indoor and terrace seating, Kiona – Patio & Bar is a sensory experience designed for visual indulgence, social connection, and a refreshing escape from the cityscape. The design takes inspiration from Kintsugi, the Japanese art of embracing flaws, seamlessly integrating cracked glass patterns, ceiling fragments, and textured surfaces that reflect this poetic philosophy.

The ground level’s plush interiors lean into the 2024 Pantone Color of the Year—Peach Fuzz—infusing the space with a soft yet confident charm. Against this backdrop, classical columns, sculptural features, and vertical gardens combine to form an inviting lounge that’s both bold and calming.

Upstairs, the rooftop terrace unfolds in three immersive zones. At its heart lies a luxurious central canopy seating, designed to be the crowd magnet. A standout highlight wall, visible from every corner of the upper deck, acts as a magnetic backdrop for selfies and group moments. The use of backlit installations and patterned glass panels adds a layered sensory appeal, especially during twilight hours when the space truly comes alive.

Spaces + Partners Architects, led by Manoj Kumar Sharma, Abhishek Jain, and Nishtha Gupta, is a multidisciplinary architecture and interior design practice known for experiential design thinking and nuanced spatial storytelling. Their work often marries context, culture, and client aspirations—evident here in the balance of concept and comfort at Kiona.

Kiona is more than just a bar—it’s an invitation to linger, to notice the beauty in details, and to engage with a space designed to delight. Every corner is curated not only for aesthetics but for connection—with the space, with people, and with oneself.
