At Achyutam Designs, design is not merely an act of creation—it is a philosophy rooted in authenticity and inquiry. As stewards of the built environment, the studio believes in challenging conventions and rethinking spatial narratives to guide users toward new ways of experiencing architecture. Here, forms and materials are celebrated in their raw, unembellished essence, allowing spaces to breathe with honesty and purpose.

This philosophy guided architects Shikha Parmar and Ashish Parmar as they began the Mehta family farmhouse near Gandhinagar—a home born not from the desire to craft a striking form, but from a simple, profound question: Why must walls and ceilings exist as separate elements? This inquiry dismantled traditional architectural boundaries, leading to a fluid, monolithic expression where structure and enclosure merge into one continuous, sculpted entity.

Set amidst the vast farmlands, the farmhouse unfolds as an organic extension of the earth, dissolving into nature’s rhythm. The built form is defined by two elliptical shells, rising gracefully at 16 and 11 feet, whose curves embrace the land’s contours. Their soft geometry eliminates rigid edges, fostering openness that transforms with light, shadow, and season. A winding, tree-lined pathway weaves through the residence, blurring thresholds between the built and the wild, leading to tranquil nooks where nature gently reclaims its presence.

Crafted in lime-plastered reinforced concrete, the materiality evokes a tactile, earthy warmth that anchors the home in timeless simplicity. Monolithic furniture emerges seamlessly from the architecture, erasing distinctions between object and structure. Subtle, concealed lighting enhances the sculptural play of surfaces, illuminating them with a quiet glow that shifts through the day.

Social spaces open expansively, encouraging togetherness and connection, while private areas cocoon in cave-like intimacy—protective yet visually intertwined with the surrounding landscape. Light filters through organic apertures, casting dynamic patterns that evolve through time, turning each moment into a living artwork. At the core, a reflective pool mirrors the vast sky above, grounding the dwelling in serenity.

More than a house, this is an architectural ode to nature—a place where light, form, and landscape exist in seamless harmony, and where architecture becomes a dialogue between earth, sky, and the human spirit.
