Navya And A Quarter

About the Project

Tree of Life is envisioned as a home that feels deeply personal — a lived-in space that radiates warmth, grounding, and belonging. Designed for a couple, their two children, and elderly parents, the brief was simple yet profound: no excess, no pretense, only authenticity. It is a home that honors where one comes from while embracing the way one lives today.

While the architectural foundation is distinctly modern — reflected in clean-lined furniture, muted tones, and contemporary materials — the soul of the home is rooted in heritage. Every corner carries a trace of memory, a dialogue between past and present. Indian craftsmanship, local materials, and family narratives weave seamlessly into its spatial story, giving each room emotional resonance.

Every design decision is layered with intent and meaning. The dining area anchors the home with a solid concrete table featuring brass inlay inspired by Kolam patterns, symbolizing prosperity and continuity. In the parents’ bedroom, Gond-inspired wallpaper pays homage to their native Madhya Pradesh, while a traditional Chennai-style swing becomes the heart of the living space — a gesture that bridges generations through form and function. The kitchen, vibrant in hues of green, black, and terracotta, celebrates Indian sensibility with sturdy granite countertops, chosen for their timeless strength and connection to the earth.

The upper floors reflect modern family life — functional, intimate, and full of character. A pink-and-beige lounge bathes in natural sunlight, fostering togetherness and ease. The master suite combines serenity and practicality, with a floating bed, concealed study, and subtle textures that exude calm. Playfulness finds expression in the youngest child’s room with a rock climbing wall, while the library lounge transforms reading into a shared ritual, where books are both backdrop and lifestyle. Even the guest room stands out — defined by a bold terracotta half-wall and striking artwork that leaves a lasting impression.

Art, often folk and always Indian, is the invisible thread binding the home together. It adorns walls, enhances wardrobes, and animates transitional spaces like the staircase. Tree of Life ultimately becomes a celebration of continuity — a home that fuses craft and contemporary design, nostalgia and modernity — embodying the evolving spirit of Indian living.
