Café Nirvanaa is conceived as a serene urban retreat, transforming a restored old bungalow into a 70-seater café that balances heritage, comfort, and timeless design. The project is rooted in a respect for the original structure, adapting it thoughtfully to accommodate modern functionality while retaining the charm and character of the bungalow.

Central to the design is the use of natural light as a defining element. A semi-roofed outdoor seating area, crafted with traditional Mangalore tiles combined with glass roofing, allows sunlight to filter through softly, creating shifting patterns that animate the space throughout the day. This design strategy establishes a dynamic visual experience, connecting diners with the rhythm of time and nature. Indoors, the interplay of muted greys, warm browns, and lush greenery extends this serene atmosphere, reflecting a rustic Scandinavian sensibility infused with subtle bohemian touches.

The spatial layout was developed to prioritize flexibility, circulation, and unobstructed views of greenery and outdoor elements. Seating arrangements are carefully planned to create pockets of intimacy while maintaining an open, airy ambiance. Durable, locally sourced materials are used throughout, ensuring longevity, ease of maintenance, and sustainability. Planters, shaded nooks, and thoughtful biophilic features enhance comfort and visually bridge the interior with the surrounding landscape, reinforcing the café’s connection to nature.

The interiors adopt a restrained palette and subtle textural variations, emphasizing tactile warmth and visual calm. Wood, stone, and natural fibers dominate the material vocabulary, while furniture and lighting are designed to complement the organic aesthetic without imposing on the architectural narrative. The careful placement of elements ensures smooth movement and a comfortable, inviting environment where guests can relax and linger.
