In Panchkula, a bare-shell corner showroom has been transformed into a quiet yet radical workspace — one that redefines minimalism through mindfulness, light, and material honesty. Designed on a modest budget, the studio emerged from the principle of less but better — where every decision is deliberate, and every element must justify its existence. It’s a space born not out of excess, but out of restraint, where intention replaces ornamentation and authenticity guides form.

The corner site, open on two sides, provided the perfect opportunity to play with light and transparency. Morning light pours in through the east-facing façade, gently illuminating the workspace with soft shadows that evolve through the day. A newly introduced horizontal window along the southern wall enhances this interplay, turning daylight into a quiet, living element of design. The window sill extends into a stone ledge that supports a linear planter — a green thread that softens the rawness of the space while connecting its inhabitants to the rhythm of nature.

The studio’s material palette embraces imperfection as beauty. The brick walls are left exposed, the concrete ceiling retains its raw texture, and electrical conduits run visibly overhead — not hidden, but celebrated. A subtle lime-wash lends depth and warmth, while terrazzo flooring with salvaged marble fragments grounds the space in tactile continuity. This layered materiality is not decorative but deeply intentional — every texture telling a story of time, labor, and authenticity.

The furniture follows the same philosophy — black stone worktables, minimal shelving, and custom-built storage designed for durability and purpose. The open pantry and dining area dissolve formal boundaries, encouraging interaction and collective energy. It’s a workspace that values pause as much as productivity — where conversations, meals, and moments of stillness coexist with creativity and work.

This studio resists completion. It’s intentionally unfinished, evolving with its occupants, embracing wear, change, and patina as part of its narrative. Over time, it will absorb the life within it — the light, the laughter, the quiet.
