The Telugu restaurant embodies cultural authenticity and refined elegance, offering an immersive journey through Andhra, Telangana, and Rayalaseema’s craft traditions. Through Cheriyal murals, Kalamkari textiles, Kakatiya-inspired elements, and artisan collaborations, the space celebrates regional heritage, blending storytelling, art, and architecture to create a multisensory, contemporary dining experience rooted in tradition.

Project Name: Telusa

Location: HYDERABAD

The client envisioned a premium Telugu restaurant that feels authentic, culturally rooted, and refined—an elegant space that honors the culinary and artistic traditions of the region. The goal was to create not just a dining destination but a multisensory cultural experience that reconnects people with the rich heritage of Telugu art and craft, much of which risks being forgotten.

The design began with an immersive journey across Andhra, Rayalaseema, and Telangana, drawing from craft traditions such as Kalamkari, Kondapalli toys, Kadapa stone, Nimmalakunta puppetry, and Cheriyal painting. These influences shaped the spatial narrative, where art is not mere decoration but a storytelling medium. Collaborations with national award-winning artisans brought this vision to life—a 7-foot leather chandelier by Dr. Dalavai Kullayappa, 15-foot Cheriyal murals by Shri Rakesh Varma, and a central pillar inspired by Kakatiya temple architecture that anchors the space in symbolism.

The restaurant unfolds as a cultural journey, moving from a shadowed, grounding entry to a layered central core beneath a lotus ceiling. Through seamless material transitions and craft-integrated details, the space revives Telugu heritage in a way that feels contemporary, immersive, and deeply respectful.
