The client, a leading steel trader, envisioned an office building on a wedge-shaped 2,350 sq.ft. site adjacent to his dockyard, with a succinct brief: “Use all the steel sections available; let the building showcase our products.” The challenge was to translate this directive into a functional workplace that simultaneously served as a live exhibition of steel’s versatility and aesthetic potential. The spatial program strategically positioned accounts, inventory, and meeting areas on the yard-facing lower level, while the MD’s cabin and sales offices occupied the road-facing upper level, balancing operational efficiency with visibility and accessibility.

The building’s wedge-shaped form inspired a conceptual narrative of a flying falcon—symbolizing dynamism, strength, and lightness. This metaphor informed both the structure and the expression of materials. Steel I, C, and L sections, MS plates, and box sections were deliberately showcased in their raw form, emphasizing structural honesty while creating an architectural language that communicates the client’s core business. The twisting roof further accentuates the sense of movement, reinforcing the falcon-inspired concept and lending a sculptural quality to the building, which appears almost poised in mid-flight.

Materiality plays a key role in the design. The use of AL insulated roofing ensures thermal comfort and energy efficiency, while VOX Infratop Golden Oak ceilings add warmth and tactility, softening the industrial aesthetic of exposed steel. Natural light filters through clerestory windows, animating interiors and highlighting structural details, while the corten steel parametric screen provides privacy for the upper-level offices, functioning as both a practical element and a visually striking façade feature. Interiors are carefully zoned to optimize workflow, with open circulation paths and clear visual connectivity enhancing both comfort and operational clarity.

The resulting office transcends conventional workspace design. It operates as a hybrid of functionality and exhibition, where architecture itself serves as a testament to steel’s strength, versatility, and elegance. Every beam, plate, and section contributes not only to structural integrity but also to the building’s visual narrative, reinforcing the corporate identity and ethos of material innovation. Ultimately, the office is an interactive, material-led experience—dynamic, sculptural, and functional—celebrating steel as both a building material and a medium of architectural expression.
