In one line
Ironside, a 6,600 sq.ft. duplex office, transforms industrial rawness into a functional, visually striking workplace that reflects the company’s metalwork heritage. Central collaborative hubs, private cabins, and breakout zones are framed by exposed structures, corten steel, and marble-topped metal I-section desks, balancing ruggedness with refinement. Sculptural staircases, terraces, and curated greenery introduce calm, fostering creativity and human comfort. The design unites industrial honesty, spatial efficiency, and employee experience in a bold, adaptable environment.
About the project
Ironside is a 6,600 sq.ft. duplex office designed to embody the industrial soul of a metal manufacturing company. The design celebrates raw materiality, rugged textures, and bold architectural gestures, creating a workplace that is at once functional, visually compelling, and deeply rooted in the brand’s identity. The spatial organization centers around a cluster of communal workstations, arranged thoughtfully around structural columns to create zones of collaboration without compromising openness. Each eight-seat workstation is meticulously crafted from metal I-sections, topped with sweeping marble surfaces that evoke the aerodynamic form of airplane wings—marrying industrial strength with refined elegance.
Framing this central collaborative hub are private cabins and meeting rooms that provide balance and privacy. Patina-finished frosted films on glass partitions and custom storage inspired by utilitarian kitchen counters maintain visual interest while offering subtle separation. Exposed structural elements, corten steel accents, cement-finished walls, and a sleek black grid ceiling collectively reinforce the industrial language, grounding the design in a material honesty that resonates with the company’s ethos. Every detail—down to the choice of finishes, textures, and joinery—echoes the rugged yet precise nature of metalwork.
A sculptural, angular staircase rises dramatically through a triangular skylight, serving as the architectural centerpiece and a symbolic connector between the levels. The upper floor accommodates leadership cabins, break-out zones, and a terrace café that opens onto panoramic views of the Bangalore skyline. Here, sandstone flooring, metal pergolas, and carefully curated greenery introduce a sense of calm and respite, softening the otherwise bold industrial aesthetic. The terrace café encourages informal interaction, fostering creativity and collaboration while providing a retreat from the intense work environment below.
Ironside successfully balances industrial honesty with human comfort. The interplay of textures, materials, and spatial hierarchies creates a workplace that is raw, expressive, and highly functional, yet welcoming. It reflects not only the company’s core values of precision, strength, and craftsmanship but also its commitment to creating an inspiring environment for employees. This duplex office stands as a testament to how industrial design principles can be translated into a modern, adaptable workspace where aesthetics, efficiency, and human experience converge seamlessly.
